Maximizing His Resources
to Accomplish His Vision
PCC will partner with your leadership team to challenge your families to make sacrificial commitments of their lives and financial resources to reach the lost in your community.
Regardless of the company you select to assist you with your campaign, many elements will be the same. The real differences you will find in a PCC led campaign are the following:
- PCC's Biblical Philosophy of Stewardship
No one can control the rain. Only God can. Rain is essential for growth and renewal, the creator of this world determined that we should allow Him to provide the rain.
God never intended churches to raise money. Clearly, money is essential to build ministries, reach people, and spread the Good news of Jesus Christ. In the life of a church, money is essential for growth and renewal, but the creator of this world determined that we should allow Him to provide those resources for us. His will is not to raise money. His will is to lower the resources we need from His hands to ours. Just as God controls the rain, He controls the money. We must depend on God to meet our financial need. more »
All my life I have been taught we have to raise money for God. Recently I have come to fully understand that it is not God’s plan for us to raise it, because He already has it. All we must do is teach our people to give. Many use the word “campaign” when they describe the process for collecting money. “Campaign” denotes a specific time period with a beginning and an end. I believe that giving is an act of worship and does not have a beginning or an end. It is on this principle that I have founded Partners in Church Consulting. PCC does not produce a run-of-the-mill “campaign”, we prepare a giving plan that your people can grasp and own. This plan can propel your church beyond the parameters of your current project. What a dream it would be if you had to tell your people to stop giving because you have more than enough, just like Moses did in Exodus 36:5-7.
Rain is abundant. God’s resources are abundant. He has all we need; all we have to do is teach our people to give Biblically.
- Five unique characteristics of a PCC led capital campaign
- Your consultant
- He will be a seasoned veteran who is actively involved in his local church.
- He will only be working with 3-5 other campaigns simultaneously with yours.
- The length of your relationship with your consultant
- Your consultant will be the PCC representative who meets with your selection committee. Unlike most fundraising companies, PCC does not have salesmen.
- Your consultant will begin working with you 10-12 months prior to your campaign and lead you in an effective follow-up strategy through your total giving period.
- Financial Freedom Seminar to Prepare your People
- PCC offers a Financial Freedom Seminar to prepare your people for the campaign. This seminar, developed by Dr. John Morgan, Pastor of Sagemont Church in Houston, is a proven tool that can be used to lead your people out of the bondage of debt. Through an arrangement with PCC, Dr. Morgan is available on a limited basis to lead this seminar in your church.
- Dr. Morgan is also available to meet one on one with your key donors while at your church for the seminar.
- Worship Planning Assistance
- Worship consultant, Rob Johnson, former Worship Pastor for Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX, will assist your worship team in planning the "public" Sundays of your campaign. He will work with your staff to plan every aspect of each services from kick-off to celebration.
- Reasonable Fees
- PCC is committed to its fees being reasonable and consistently charges less than most fundraising companies.
- The process
- Months 1-4:
Financial Freedom Seminar
- Advanced preparation with potential large donors
- Address non-campaign issues that could affect your campaign
- Months 5-9:
Design Campaign and develop calendar
Your church is unique! The design of your campaign should be just as unique. This process involves a one to two day planning session to create a unique giving emphasis for your church. It includes beginning the process of choosing a title, developing a calendar, and designing the Kick-off, Commitment, and Celebration Sundays. A detailed strategy will be developed to inform your congregation about your project through small group meetings, banquets, rallies and your regularly scheduled meetings and organizations. It also involves designing a plan to spiritually challenge your people through a prayer strategy, Bible studies and your worship services. Through this process you will also determine the leadership team needed for your campaign.
Enlist and train Leadership Team
Once the design is complete, the consultant will return to your church and conduct an orientation for your Leadership Team. He will then meet with each of them one-on-one to train them in their specific responsibilities. The orientation is not only a training time but a time of teaching, team building and spiritual motivation. They will be given a detailed timeline of their duties and a clear understanding of how their responsibilities relate to the project as a whole. This visit usually can be accomplished in two days. The consultant will also assist by:
- Provide giving program samples and resources
- Continue training and coaching campaign leadership
- Train telephone calling team
- Train host for small group meetings
- Coach the Sr. Pastor and other leaders on their campaign presentations and activities
- Assist in the day-to-day management during emphasis period
- Coach leadership in producing printed and video material
- Months 10-12:
Public presentation of Vision
The "public" aspect of your capital campaign involves 5-8 Sundays. The primary purpose is to cast the vision God has put before your congregation and call your people to commitment. A prayer strategy is at the heart of this phase of the emphasis. The culmination of this phase is Commitment Sunday.
- Months 13-48:
Development and implementation of Follow-up strategy
- A Follow-up Strategy
The number one complaint against fundraising companies is poor follow-up. One reason for this is that companies assign new consultants to follow-up duties as a training ground. The PCC consultant who leads you in your campaign will be the consultant who leads your follow-up. 60 to 90 days after you Commitment Sunday, your consultant will meet with your follow-up director and staff to design a follow-up strategy. He will then work with you throughout the giving period to ensure the strategy is executed.

"Lamar walked me through my first Capital Campaign as a Senior Pastor. His leadership was invaluable to me as I led my church through this process. He possesses a unique gift of tailoring a campaign to meet the needs of each church he works with I count Lamar as a trusted advisor."

The Church at Rock Creek, Little Rock, AR
"I worked with Lamar Slay during Maryland Community Church 's Stewardship Campaign that started in January of 2004. Lamar brought a wealth of personal experience to the table, not only in fundraising but also in overall church leadership. He provided MCC with creative resources and tips to help us along the way. But what impressed me the most was his concern for the spiritual health of all of our 1500 attendees and for the long-term effects of the campaign."

"In the 38 year history of Sagemont Church in Houston, TX, we have built over 20 million dollars worth of buildings and have paid cash for each project. This has been accomplished by teaching God's people His principles of giving. Each time, He has lowered the resources to us to build the vision he has set before us. It is on these principles that Lamar Slay has founded PCC and I highly recommend this proven approach to you and your church."
